Journal entry by james witzman — 5/2/2017
Jo is still resting and healing. Deeply sedated with a host of supporting machines. They have stopped monitoring for any seizure activity, nothing was detected the past 48 hours. Spent some time talking with the nursing staff about his day. He was stable throughout, and generally calmer during re-positioning and normal hourly checks. His nuero checks on his eyes still show uneven dilation (left larger than right) but have reduced somewhat. The left has reduced to closer in size to the right, a good sign. He has still had some respiratory issues, mainly a nagging cough. The have confirmed that he has a minor flu bug, fortunately, the antibiotics he is already on will combat that, and it isn't causing any issues with recovery overall. My guess is tomorrow there will be an attempt for an MRI. It is terrifying to think what it may show but it doesn't change anything we will do as parents. I have intentionally avoided reading anything about brain injuries since this tragedy occurred, that's not going to change now. I am here with Jo, watching over him. Rest easy jojobinks, I love you more than life itself. Stay strong, fight, we will overcome. Dad
