Journal entry by james witzman — 5/3/2017
Jo was stable throughout the MRI process and returned to his room with no complications. I'll post more details later but high level: Jo has damage to the left side of his brain and partial damage centrally. The left side damage was well known from the initial CT scan. The central is "new" but possibly not seen on the CT scan to begin with. The additional surgery to remove the piece of the skull did prevent significant damage to the right side of the brain. A small area was affected, but still a good thing that it was mitigated by the emergency surgery. As I said I'll post again when I can about next steps and a little more detail about the injuries. For the next 24 hours nothing changes, rest and healing for Jo. A couple nuero highlights today I had to share: I tickled his right foot and he wiggled his toes! Same on the left! He moved his left arm up to hold my hand! He moved his head aside when the nurse was fussing with him and he was chewing on his breathing tube! All of these are mini-miracles and the doc was happy to see it. More miracles to come, love you jojobinks stay strong! Mommy and daddy
